The Senior Mechanical Engineer involves design and development of military/aviation related products in a very fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum  of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering or equivalent
  • 4 – 6 years of hands-on engineering experience
  • 4+ years’ experience with Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CAD) required (SolidWorks a plus)
  • 4+ years of hands-on mentoring of Junior Engineers and Engineering Technicians
  • Self-driven, quick learner, analytical and a problem solver
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office; specifically Excel
  • Experience with engineering procedures, mechanical systems, and electro-mechanical devices
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Detail oriented with strong follow through and organizational skills
  • Able to multi-task and to accept and adapt to change quickly
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Provide engineering design and technical guidance for multiple, concurrent, complex mechanical equipment and system projects
  • Design test control apparatus and equipment, develop procedures for testing products, and conduct engineering calculations to solve routine engineering problems, feasibility studies, and testing on new and modified designs
  • Design, develop, and verify mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies to maintain or improve existing products and provide conceptual design input for new products and equipment; provide design review and input for project drawings, documents, and testing
  • Develop the structural design of products, using drafting tools and CAD software and fabricate engineered components, equipment, and integrated systems
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications
  • Oversee document designs through the creation and maintenance of: design requirement specifications, product drawings, component drawings, material specifications, and Bills of Material (BOMs), etc.
  • Coordinate: troubleshooting for performance testing, product failures,  and component systems; perform stress analysis for equipment, structures, and design; and evaluate, recommend, and implement modifications or adjustments to new and existing products and equipment in conformance to engineering design, performance specifications, and industry standards
  • Requisition components and supplies for engineering projects, interacting with other departments and vendors to obtain price and product information
  • Mentor, coordinate, and monitor activities of Junior Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technicians
  • Problem solve, answer questions and interact with other engineers and departments

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see
  • May occasionally be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) during the course of the workday
