Accounts Payable/Payroll Assistant

Position Reports To:  CFO                                                           Department:  Accounting/Finance 
Location:  Gilbert, AZ                                                                     Status: Part Time/Non-Exempt/Temporary/Not Safety Sensitive 
 
Summary
The Accounts Payable/Payroll Assistant will perform accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions.  This position will also compile and enter payroll data, post wages and reconcile errors to maintain payroll records.                                                                                                                                                      

Qualifications
  • Completion of Accounting Courses required
  • 3 years of accounts payable and general accounting experience required
  • Knowledge of general accounting procedures
  • ADP knowledge required
  • Cost Point knowledge a plus
  • Proficient in data entry and management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant computer applications
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Detail oriented with strong follow through and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • US citizenship is required
 
Responsibilities
  • Review, sort and match invoices and check requests
  • Record invoices in accounting system and file for payment
  • Prepare and process accounts payable checks,
  • Reconcile payments to vendors
  • Monitor vendor accounts to ensure payments are made in a timely manner
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Vendor file maintenance
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
  • Review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll
  • Record changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions and loan payments for each employee  
  • Other duties, as assigned
 
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Work is performed in an office setting
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see
  • May occasionally be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) during the course of the workday
