QA Engineer

Position Reports To:  COO                                                           Department:  Quality Assurance 
Location:  Gilbert, AZ                                                                      Status:  Full Time/ Exempt/Safety Sensitive
The QA Engineer is responsible for establishing the QA practices, policies and implementation processes for the program to include pre-production, in-production, and final quality control inspections and test of all delivered items. This position will also create processes to be followed by all team members and maintain artifacts demonstrating the completion of QA processes and controls under this program. The QA Engineer shall create and maintain procedures for the identification, segregation and disposition of non-conforming materials, including the control of such materials that do not conform to contract requirements.  The QA Engineer shall be the focal POC for ensuring Sub-contractor compliance with Contract requirements for quality and conformance as well as work with the sub-contractors to capture their own processes and ensure these are clearly documented and delivered to the government.  This position will also act as the program safety official and develop the System Safety program in accordance with government regulations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Management, Quality Engineering and/or Business Management preferred
  • 4+ years of documented experience in QA and/or QC positions
  • 6S/LEAN/Six-Sigma desired
  • ASQ Quality certifications preferred
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in developing  internal audit/supplier audit processes
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience as a trainer and/or subject matter expert a plus
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in Quality/ Supply Chain Management
  • Extensive background in Corrective/Preventive Action investigation, verification and closure
  • Familiarity with Government Contracts, FAR requirements and DOD quality system requirements a plus
  • Extensive background in developing and implementing a quality control process
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Project
  • Must have previous experience in the review and assessment of quality contractual requirements
  • Prior military service is a plus
  • Must have a high level of awareness and ability to pay attention to detail
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter that can fully complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to multi-task to ensure all organizations and processes are quality system compliant 24/7
  • Must be able to read and understand drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and basic work instructions
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Ensure compliance to customer product, process and quality requirements
  • Develop and manage organizational quality objectives and performance metrics
  • Be the primary interface for quality and registrar audits
  • Promoting performance improvement and quality assurance programs throughout the organization
  • Maintain and set up Quality System and organizational documentation to meet requirements and expectations of the customer and the Quality System Registrar
  • Determine relevant quality associated training requirements and deliver training
  • Contemplate the application of health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Ensure that applications meet security, performance, and usability standards
  • Establish a process to communicate items of concern to Management
  • Other duties, as assigned
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Work may be performed outside in hot and/or cold desert environments or inclement weather conditions
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, talk, hear, and see (must be able to stand for long periods of time)
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work including hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and other protective equipment as required
